Samadhi for Seniors
I am very excited to offer Samadhi for Seniors, a new program that is very dear to my heart.
Here in the US, aging can be a stressful and even depressing process. Seniors often feel out of place in our youth-oriented society. Additionally, seniors are sometimes regarded as “dinosaurs” who are not in touch with the realities of today’s fast-paced high-tech world.
In India, growing older is viewed very differently. There, older people are venerated for their wisdom and life experience. Old age is viewed as a wonderful opportunity to fully pursue spirituality. Now that the responsibilities of the "householder stage of life" are over, seniors can fully devote themselves to spiritual growth through yoga and meditation.
Samadhi for Seniors is a program to allow seniors to engage in intense spiritual practice, with the goal of coming as close as possible to ultimate spiritual growth. We will be presenting the full array of yogic practices to our senior practitioners.
- Asanas (yoga postures) modified appropriately for seniors, whether frail or active
- Pranayama (yogic breathing techniques)
- Intense meditation
- Mantra Japa (yogic chanting)
- Sound healing
- Yoga Nidra (deep conscious relaxation)
You will not need to become a Sannyasin (renunciate) or move to an Ashram, of course, as many do in India. The program will take place in a center in your own neighborhood, or in the comfort and privacy of your own home.
